Queenie and the Cavaliers
Red Hot Swing and Upbeat Boogie
You might not have heard of Queenie and The Cavaliers before but you have likely seen them. A well established 5 piece Sydney Swing band, just with a brand new name.
The Cavaliers have been playing the coolest cocktail bars and hottest joints in town for over 9 years. Their monthly residency at Merivale’s Speakeasy Palmer & Co always sees a full dance floor and plenty of Lindy Hopper’s delight with swing dancers tapping their toes and triple stepping across the floor.
Lead singer Queen P is a sultry song stylist with an impressive range and brazen quick wit. A masterful singer and a true entertainer her sophisticated song selection and red hot vocal rhythms always gets the dance floor jumpin’.
Laying the foundation and keeping us anchored is master of the Double Bass Tom Wade while the always elegant John Blenkhorn plays guitar like a golden age dream. Straight ahead, shuffled or syncopated drummer Adam Barnard keeps The Cavaliers out of mischief ( on the stage at least ) and dynamic trumpet player and vocalist Eamon Penner-Dilworth adds a rhythmic full bodied tone to the band’s creative arrangements. These galant gentlemen of jazz are Cavalier by name and by nature.
If you like the classic vintage sounds of swing standards with a mellow tone peppered with a mix of dynamite rhythms, jump jazz and some hip shakin’ barrelhouse boogie and blues then Queenie and The Cavaliers are your new (old) favourite Sydney Swing ensemble.
Come up and see them sometime!
